Unter dem Archon Arrhenides; die Akamantis hatte die fünftePrytanie inne; im Maimakterion am einundzwanzigsten, dem dreiundzwanzigsten(Tag) der Prytanie; Haupt-Volksversammlung; von den Vorsitzenden leitete die AbstimmungHippon S.d. Kratistoleos aus dem Demos Xypete und seine Mitvorsitzenden. ThrasonS.d. Thrason aus dem Demos Anakaia stellte den Antrag:Da Zenon S.d. Mnaseas aus Kition viele Jahre um der Philosophie willenin der Stadt war und in allem Übrigen stets ein trefflicher Mann war,insbesondere aber die zur Zusammenkunft mit ihm gekommenen Jugendlichen zurTugend und Besonnenheit auffordernd, zum Besten hin führte, indem er sein eigenesLeben für alle zum Beispiel machte, das den Lehren entsprach,die er unterrichtete, zu Glück und Heil!, wolle beschließen das Volk: dass man belobigeZenon S.d. Mnaseas aus Kition und bekränze mit goldenem Kranz gemäßdem Gesetz wegen seiner Leistung und seiner Gelehrsamkeit; dass man ihm auchein Grabmal errichte im Kerameikos auf öffentliche Kosten; dass für die Anfertigung desKranzes und die Errichtung des Grabmals das Volk durch Handhebensogleich fünf Männer unter den Athener wähle, die dafür Sorge tragen werden; dass einschreibediesen Beschluß der Sekretär des Volkes auf zwei Stelen undes erlaubt sei, von diesen die eine in der Akademie aufzustellen, die andere im Lykeion;dass die entstandenen Kosten für die Stelen der Finanzverwalterbegleiche, damit alle sehen, dass das Volk der Athenerdie Guten sowohl zu Lebzeiten ehrt als auch im Tode. ‒ Für dieErrichtung wurden durch Handheben gewählt: Thrason aus dem Demos Anakaia, Philokles aus demDemos Peiraieus, Phaidros aus dem Demois Anaphlystos, Menon aus dem Demos Acharnai, Smikythosaus dem Demos Sypalettos, Dion aus dem Demos Paiania.

Of the presiding committee Hipponson of Kratistoleos of Xypete was putting to the vote and his fellow presiding committee members.Thrason son of Thrason of Anakaia proposed:since Zenon son of Mnaseas of Kition in his many years spentin the city in philosophy continued in all other respects to be a good man,and encouraging the young men who entered his schoolto excellence and moderation he urged them on to the best,setting out by his own life an example to all in its adherence to the preceptsthat he taught, for good fortune, the People shall decide: to praiseZenon son of Mnaseas of Kition and to crown him with a gold crown accordingto the law for his excellence and moderation, and to build for hima tomb in the Kerameikos at public expense; and the People shall electfive men from the Athenians to manage the makingof the crown and the building of the tomb; and the secretaryof the People shall inscribe the decree on two stelai, andit shall be permitted to place one in the Academy and the other in the Lyceum;and the administrator shall allocate the expenditure accruedfor the stelai in order that all may know that the Athenian Peoplehonours good men, both living and dead. Forthe building (of the tomb) were elected Thrason of Anakaia, Philokles of Peiraieus,Phaidros of Anaphlystos, Menon of Acharnai, Smikythos of Sypalettos,Dion of Paiania.
